Salam Projects

Global Summer Leadership Program

This project was established to enable underprivileged African children to gain international educational experience by participating in 24 month summer programs. With the support of local schools and educational experts in the respective African countries, students go through a rigorous application process to be selected and placed in high school summer programs in the US or Europe. In 2007, SALAM commenced with its inaugural class of three students, who were placed in language and leadership training programs at elite private boarding schools in Massachusetts and Vermont.

Junior Partners

SALAM’s mentoring initiative focuses on partnering high school students with accomplished professionals in their local communities. This program is led by students who have previously participated in other SALAM projects.

Partnership with African Leadership Academy (ALA)

Initiated the Mali chapter of recruitment on behalf of ALA. SALAM believes in partnering with similar organizations dedicated to creating leaders on the African continent.

SALAM School Project

This project is geared towards building educational infrastructure for marginalized communities in Africa. A pilot project is in progress in Jimma, Ethiopia, where a high school will be built. The school will prepare highly motivated students for the competitive process of college entrance exams.
